The Transfusion Department

The Transfusion Department is a separate department where blood and blood components are collected from donors and subsequently processed into transfusion products. It ensures continuous operation with a range of routine and acute examinations of blood donors and patients in order to provide haemotherapy in the hospital. The department is also a centre for educational activities of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, the Secondary Medical School in Brno, and the National Centre for Nursing and Non-Medical Health Professions. The department has four sections: the Sample Collection Centre, Transfusion Product Production, the Immunohematology Laboratory, and the Blood Bank and Transfusion Product Dispatching. Bone marrow donors are registered here in the Czech National Marrow Donor Registry.
