The 1st Institute of Pathology is a higher-level facility that provides necropsy, biopsy, and cytology services for St. Anne’s University Hospital Brno and a number of external suppliers. The First Institute of Pathology consults on difficult and controversial diagnostic cases sent from other pathology facilities. It also provides specialised molecular pathological examinations for extramural suppliers. In addition to the usual range of biopsy services, the First Institute of Pathology provides highly specialised diagnostics in the fields of transplant pathology, nephropathology, neuropathology, dermatopathology, and orthopaedic and soft tissue pathology.
