The 2nd Clinic of Surgery

The 2nd Clinic of Surgery is a specialised facility focused on vascular diseases and their angiosurgical and endovascular treatment. The clinic is part of the Comprehensive Cardiovascular Centre and the Cerebrovascular Centre and is the only facility in Moravia with the status of a Vascular Transplant Centre. The main focus of the clinic is vascular surgery programs. In cooperation with interventional radiologists and angiologists, it provides comprehensive care for vascular patients and a 24-hour service for acute vascular events within both in and outside the South Moravian Region. A multidisciplinary indication committee works at the clinic on a daily basis.

In addition to a complete range of vascular surgery procedures, the clinic has been developing several programmes that are unique in the Czech Republic, such as the Replacement of Infected Aortic Vascular Prostheses with Autologous Femoral Veins, Pedal Bypass in the Rescue of Critically Ischemic Limbs, a visceral revascularisation programme, and a programme using veins from the upper limbs for peripheral bypass.
