The Department of Eye Diseases and Optometry

The Department of Eye Diseases and Optometry provides comprehensive diagnostic, conservative, and surgical care in a relatively wide range of ophthalmology. Within the framework of specialised outpatient clinics and diagnostic centres, the department provides:

  • cataract surgery on an outpatient basis,
  • diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, including laser and surgical procedures,
  • care for patients with diabetic retinopathy, including OCT, fluorescent angiography, and photocoagulation,
  • comprehensive examination and treatment of vitreous and retinal diseases (e.g. vitreous haemorrhage, macular holes),
  • examination of the visual pathway using electrophysiological methods (ERG, VEP, EOG),
  • counselling for the visually impaired, including the selection of compensatory aids,
  • a binocular vision examination,
  • acute ophthalmological care as part of the emergency service.

In addition to procedures covered by health insurance, the department also offers selected above-standard and cosmetic procedures paid for by the patient. The department does not perform laser refractive surgery to correct myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism.
