The Institute of Forensic Medicine

The Institute of Forensic Medicine provides forensic medical services for the South Moravian Region and, to some extent, for the Zlín Region and the Vysočina Region.

Its activities mainly include performing medical autopsies in cases of sudden, unexpected, and violent deaths, including suicide, and forensic autopsies in cases where there is suspicion that the death was caused by a criminal offense. The institute includes a fully equipped forensic toxicology laboratory, which examines biological material taken from the bodies of deceased and living persons. The staff members include experts in the fields of healthcare, forensic medicine, and forensic toxicology.
