St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno (some people use the abbreviation FNUSA) is a very old hospital in the centre of Brno.
- the hospital is a big house where sick people are treated.
- these people are called patients.
- patients are cared for by doctors and nurses in white scrubs.

Our hospital is connected to the university. Students here learn how to treat sick patients. When they learn, they’ll be doctors or nurses.
There are also scientists working in our hospital. They’re researching diseases and trying to figure out how to get rid of them. Smart people from all over the world do research in a building called the International Clinical Research Center.

We treat sick people in the hospital. We call these people patients.
Sometimes all it takes is a short treatment in a room we call an ambulance. The patient comes in and leaves right after being seen by the doctor. The doctor sometimes uses a machine to examine the patient.

Sometimes the patient has to stay in hospital for several days. He has a bed in the inpatient ward. Every day, doctors come and check on him to see if he’s getting better. They give him medication and examine him with machines. Sometimes the doctors have to operate on the patient to cure him.

We have many outpatient clinics and many departments in the hospital. Each outpatient clinic and department has its own name according to what is treated there. For example, lung diseases are treated in the Pulmonary Outpatient Department.
These names are written on the doors, on maps in the area and on the buildings.
Clicking here will open a list of all outpatient clinics and departments.
